Basic statistics¶

Mean, Standard deviation, Range¶

To compute the basic statistics over a dataset, use the metocean command:

#reduce the dataset to the wanted grid (here only the surface velocity)
rep=/ecola/share/tmp/training/GLORYS
ncks -d depth,0,0 -v uo,vo,longitude,latitude \
     $rep/dataset-ibi-reanalysis-phys-005-002-daily_apr-jun2014.nc \
     GLORYS-surf_velocity-apr-jun-2014.nc

metocean GLORYS-surf_velocity-apr-jun-2014.nc -v uo vo -s 2014/04/01 -f 2014/05/01

The results will be stored in the file “uo-stats.nc”. Each variable analysed will have it the followinf set of statistic variables:

VARNAME_stddev
VARNAME_min
VARNAME_max
